Este programa tiene forma de bocadillo con relleno klezmer. Ah, pero antes del bocadillo, va un aperitivo anglo-francés. Y no falta el vermú. Y es que en nuestras #Mundofonews traemos noticias de próximos conciertos y festivales que repasamos en dos tandas, al principio y al final del programa. Hablamos de propuestas de balfolk y del festival Folklores en Madrid, destacando la celebración del 40.º aniversario de La Musgaña. Comentamos y escuchamos músicas del ciclo Klangkosmos de Alemania, el Offest de Skopie y el Festival de Arte Flamenco de Catalunya, viajando entre Francia, España, Suecia, Inglaterra, Ucrania, Canadá, Colombia y Mozambique.

This programme takes the shape of a sandwich with a klezmer filling. Ah, but before the sandwich comes an Anglo-French appetiser. And the vermouth is not missing either. On our #Mundofonews we bring news of upcoming concerts and festivals, which we review in two rounds, at the beginning and at the end of the programme. We talk about balfolk proposals and the Folklores festival in Madrid, highlighting the celebration of the 40th anniversary of La Musgaña. We comment on and listen to music from the Klangkosmos series in Germany, the Offest in Skopje and the Festival de Arte Flamenco de Catalunya, travelling through France, Spain, Sweden, England, Ukraine, Canada, Colombia and Mozambique.

Procedentes de tierras ibéricas, españolas, catalanas, por un lado, y balcánicas, serbias, por otro, estos dos inquietos, solventes y creativos artistas se han juntado en Viena para dar rienda suelta a su complicidad musical y entremezclar sus múltiples influencias. Se trata del clarinetista Òscar Antolí y el acordeonista Miloš Todorovski, quienes nos presentan su segundo disco: “Resonances”.

Coming from Iberian, Spanish and Catalan lands, on the one hand, and Balkan and Serbian on the other, these two restless, skilled and creative artists met in Vienna to give free rein to their musical complicity and blend their many influences. They are the clarinetist Òscar Antolí and the accordionist Miloš Todorovski, who present their second album: “Resonances”.

Aunque muchas aerolíneas racaneen con estas cosas, en este vuelo musical no escatimamos en delicias persas y árabes para degustar. Escuchamos, en discos recién publicados o que verán la luz próximamente, voces e instrumentistas persas desde la diáspora y el exilio en diversos países de Europa y América, para rematar con tres tañedores de ud con raíces sirias y argelinas.

Although many airlines cut corners on such things, on this musical flight we spare no expense when it comes to Persian and Arab delights. We listen, in newly released albums or ones soon to be unveiled, to Persian voices and instrumentalists from the diaspora and exile across various countries in Europe and America, before concluding with three players of the oud with Syrian and Algerian roots.

Les Belgicains, vol. 2

Allá por los años 60, el sello Covadia se dedicó a grabar a los grupos y orquestas formados por jóvenes del recién independizado Congo que acudían a Bélgica como estudiantes, portando sus raíces, pero también abriéndose a muchas influencias que calaban entonces en la música africana, especialmente las afrocaribeñas, como comprobamos en este segundo volumen de la serie “Les Belgicains”.

Back in the 1960s, the label Covadia was devoted to recording groups and orchestras formed by young people from the newly independent Congo who travelled to Belgium as students, bringing their roots with them while also opening up to many influences that were shaping African music at the time, especially Afro-Caribbean ones, as we can hear in this second volume of the series “Les Belgicains”.

Comenzamos saludando a África desde Europa y América, para sumergirnos después en nuevas músicas que nos llegan desde ese continente, desde Bamako, el sur de Marruecos, el país de los tuaregs y Nigeria. Continuamos en Norteamérica, basculando entre influencias afrolatinas e indias, para terminar en un Estambul electrizante.

We begin by saluting Africa from Europe and America, before immersing ourselves in new music coming from that continent, from Bamako, southern Morocco, the land of the Tuareg and Nigeria. We continue in North America, shifting between Afro-Latin and Indian influences, to finish in an electrifying Istanbul.

Celebramos el segundo trabajo musical, “Abar kuh”, del dúo Hamraaz, resultado del encuentro en los Países Bajos de estas dos artistas: la iraní Khorshid Dadbeh, que tañe las cuerdas del tar y el tambur, y la francesa Lucie Rosann Lelaurain, que sopla flauta y duduk, instrumento este último de la tradición armenia.

We celebrate the second musical release, “Abar Kuh”, by the duo Hamraaz, the result of an encounter in the Netherlands between these two artists: the Iranian Khorshid Dadbeh, who plucks the strings of the tar and the tambur, and the French Lucie Rosann Lelaurain, who plays the flute and the duduk, the latter an instrument from the Armenian tradition.

Comenzamos con artistas ucranianas e iraníes instaladas en Canadá, para seguir con otro músico persa que nos visita desde Viena. Continuamos con hermosas músicas que nos llegan desde Francia, el sur de Italia de raíces griegas, Inglaterra y Escocia, todas ellas en modo acústico, para conectar después los cables con propuestas que aúnan raíz y electrónica desde Marruecos, Argentina, Chile y Bolivia.

We begin with Ukrainian and Iranian artists based in Canada, before continuing with another Persian musician visiting us from Vienna. We go on with beautiful music coming from France, southern Italy with Greek roots, England and Scotland, all of it in acoustic mode, before plugging in with proposals that bring together roots and electronics from Morocco, Argentina, Chile and Bolivia.
