Voices from the heart of the earth

En esta edición nos zambullimos en expresiones musicales, muchas de ellas vocales, surgidas de lo más profundo y auténtico de la tradición de los pueblos, con piezas también nacidas de la reelaboración de estos preciosos materiales, a través de discos recién editados pero, algunos de ellos, con muy restringida distribución. Viajamos por Grecia, Rusia, Daguestán, Serbia, Hungría y Francia.

In this edition we dive into musical expressions, many of them vocal, arising from the deepest and most authentic of the peoples’ tradition, with creations also born from the reworking of those precious materials, through recently released records but, some of them, with very restricted distribution. We travel through Greece, Russia, Dagestan, Serbia, Hungary and France.

Blues, bluegrass, harps, flamenco, jazz and Caribbean airs

Comenzamos en Norteamérica con bluegrass del futuro, próximo a editarse, y añejo blues tejano de hace un siglo. Continuamos con sones de arpas en diferentes combinaciones, para terminar con aires flamencos que recalan en Berlín y Grecia y se entrelazan, de nuevo, con el bluegrass y también con el jazz, que suena asimismo con aires afrocaribeños.

We begin in North America with bluegrass from the future, soon to be released, and old Texas blues from a century ago. We continue with harp sounds in different combinations, to finish with flamenco airs that travel to Berlin and Greece and intertwine, again, with bluegrass music and also with jazz, that also sounds combined with Afro-Caribbean airs.

Comenzamos con los favoritos de Mundofonías de febrero del 2022, con los discos que nos traen Choduraa Tumat, desde Tuvá, Vigüela, desde Castilla y Kreiz Breizh Akademi #8, desde Bretaña. Y por esas tierras célticas continuamos, por Bretaña y Escocia, para saltar también a Inglaterra, Bélgica, Suecia, Dinamarca y Noruega, con nuevas músicas que nos llegan de esos territorios y el homenaje a la gran Norma Waterson.

We begin with the Mundofonías’ February 2022 favorites, with the albums brought to us by Choduraa Tumat  from Tuva, Vigüela, from Castile and Kreiz Breizh Akademi #8, from Brittany. And through these Celtic lands we continue, through Brittany and Scotland, to jump also to England, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, with new music coming from those territories and a tribute to the great Norma Waterson.

Repaso libre a la Transglobal World Music Chart del mes, confeccionada a través de la votación de un panel de divulgadores de las músicas del mundo de todos los continentes, del que los hacedores de Mundofonías somos cocreadores y coimpulsores. Este mes de febrero del 2022, viajamos por África del Norte, África Occidental, Oriente Próximo, tierras ibéricas, francesas y neerlandesas, Brasil y, desde Taiwán, por todo el océano Índico y el Pacífico, por donde nos hace navegar el proyecto que se sitúa en el número 1: Small Island Big Song. ¡Enhorabuena!

A loose review of the Transglobal World Music Chart for this month, determined by a panel of world music specialists from all the continents, of which the Mundofonías‘ presenters are co-creators and co-promoters.
