En Texas bailamos polkas y sentimos el blues con grabaciones históricas y viajamos también con novedades discográficas del África del norte y occidental.

We enjoy music with a variety of Brazilian inspirations, from the spiritual chants of candomblé to the intersections of northeastern music and hip-hop. In Texas we dance polkas and feel the blues with historical recordings, and we also travel with new recordings from North and West Africa.

Disfrutamos con los Aga Khan Master Musicians, incluyendo artistas de China, Asia Central, Oriente Próximo y el norte de África; seguimos con el libro-disco «Bolinus brandaris: Flamenco from the Bay of Cádiz», y con el estupendo nuevo disco del Eliza Carthy Trio, desde Inglaterra. El programa continúa con más novedades inglesas, escocesas e irlandesas, para seguir con músicas kurdas e iraníes y un encuentro chino-polaco.

We review the favorites of the month in Mundofonías, a selection from our already select Mundofonic offer: la crème de la crème! We enjoy with the Aga Khan Master Musicians, including artists from China, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa; we continue with the CD-book «Bolinus brandaris: Flamenco from the Bay of Cádiz», and with the great new album by the Eliza Carthy Trio, from England. The show continues with more English, Scottish and Irish new releases, followed by Kurdish and Iranian music and a Chinese-Polish encounter.

Emprendemos una singladura en la que nos iremos encontrando con muy interesantes producciones musicales recientes en los diversos puertos musicales, principalmente del Mediterráneo, en los que iremos recalando: en Italia, Córcega, Grecia y, ya pasando el Bósforo, en Bulgaria, con una inesperada conexión final con las estepas del Asia Central. Disfrutamos con la música de Alessandro D’Alessandro, Yarákä, La Cantiga de la Serena (en la foto), Lame da Barba, el proyecto Brigà (Jerôme Casalonga, Malik Berki, Flavio Boltro, Mattia Barbieri y Mauro Battisti), Petroloukas Halkias con Vasilis Kostas, Thomas Meleteas y el coro búlgaro Angelite, tanto en solitario como en combinación con el grupo de Tuvá Huun-Huur-Tu.

We embark on a journey where we will come across very interesting recent musical productions in the various musical ports, primarily in the Mediterranean, where we will make stops: in Italy, Corsica, Greece, and, once we pass the Bosphorus, in Bulgaria, with an unexpected final connection to the steppes of Central Asia. We enjoy the music of Alessandro D’Alessandro, Yarákä, La Cantiga de la Serena (in the photo), Lame da Barba, the Brigà project (Jerôme Casalonga, Malik Berki, Flavio Boltro, Mattia Barbieri and Mauro Battisti), Petroloukas Halkias with Vasilis Kostas, Thomas Meleteas, and the Bulgarian choir Angelite, both solo and in combination with the Tuvan group Huun-Huur-Tu.

Comenzamos en clave flamenca, para continuar por Canarias, América Latina, Escandinavia y Afganistán. En nuestras #Mundofonews hablamos del festival Oslo World; del Exib Música, que se celebra en Setúbal, Portugal; de la celebración conjunta del Manchester Folk y la English Music Expo, así como del WOMEX, que tendrá lugar este año en A Coruña, Galicia. Terminamos recordando a las víctimas de los terremotos y la represión en Afganistán, así como las de los terribles ataques contra la población tanto palestina como israelí.

We start with flamenco, and continue in the Canary Islands, Latin America, Scandinavia and Afghanistan. In our #Mundofonews we talk about the Oslo World festival; Exib Música, to be held in Setúbal, Portugal; the joint celebration of Manchester Folk and the English Music Expo, as well as WOMEX, which will take place this year in A Coruña, Galicia. We end by remembering the victims of the earthquakes and repression in Afghanistan, as well as those of the terrible attacks on both the Palestinian and Israeli populations.

Two Indian tracks

Disfrutamos con auténticas delicias musicales indias, siguiendo la pista a las últimas producciones de dos de los artistas más destacados en esas tradiciones: el intérprete de flauta bansuri Rakesh Chaurasia y el percusionista, tañedor de tabla, Zakir Hussain. Les escuchamos a ambos juntos, a los dos también junto con los músicos norteamericanos Béla Fleck y Edgar Meyer, y a Rakesh con el sitarista Purbayan Chatterjee. Zakir Hussain, por su parte, también forma parte desde su fundación, hace medio siglo, del proyecto Shakti, junto con el guitarrista británico John McLaughlin, que reaparece ahora en el 2023, por lo que escuchamos una pieza de su último álbum y también viajamos a los años 70, para disfrutar con una muestra musical de aquellos primeros Shakti. Terminamos escuchando un poco más largamente una música que siempre suena en la apertura de «Mil mundos», con el sonido del bansuri de Hariprasad Chaurasia, maestro y tío de Rakesh. We enjoy authentic Indian musical delights, tracking the latest productions of two of the most prominent artists in those traditions: the bansuri flute player Rakesh Chaurasia and the tabla-playing percussionist Zakir Hussain. We hear them both together, both also with North American musicians Béla Fleck and Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh with sitarist Purbayan Chatterjee. Zakir Hussain, for his part, has also been part of the Shakti project since its foundation, half a century ago, together with the British guitarist John McLaughlin, which now reappears in 2023, so we listen to a piece from their latest album and we also travel back to the 70s, to enjoy a musical selection of those early Shakti. We end up listening a little longer to some music that always plays at the opening of «Mil mundos», with the sound of the bansuri of Hariprasad Chaurasia, Rakesh‘s teacher and uncle. Suenan novedades y adelantos discográficos que nos traen encuentros, contrastes y colisiones musicales entre artistas e inspiraciones europeas, de Oriente Próximo, del Sudeste Asiático, de Senegal, de Japón, de Cuba o del romanticismo clásico. Contamos también con dos presentaciones y dos voces invitadas. En primer lugar, el recopilatorio «Republicafrobeat, vol. 6: Afrobeat ibérico», del cual nos habla su compilador DJ Floro, y, a continuación, el libro «La isla del tesoro: Historia de la música jamaicana del siglo XX», que nos presenta su director de contenidos Jordi López «Ragna».

New releases and album previews bring us encounters, contrasts and musical collisions between artists and inspirations from Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Senegal, Japan, Cuba and classical romanticism. We also have two presentations and two guest voices.
