Celebramos el 20 aniversario de Mundofonías, que nació con el nombre de Mapamundi en el año 2001, repasando sintonías, retales sonoros y músicas que han formado parte de estas dos décadas de radio dedicada a las músicas de inspiración popular de todo el mundo.

We celebrate the 20th anniversary of Mundofonías, which was born with the name Mapamundi in the year 2001, reviewing theme tunes, sound clips and music that have been part of these two decades of radio dedicated to popular inspired music from all over the world.

La nuestra es una lista no jerárquica, no numerada, que recoge esas grabaciones que nos han resultado más interesantes y que más placer nos han proporcionado durante este año. Es una lista completamente independiente, no comercial, no sujeta a ninguna otra consideración que el propio criterio de los que hacemos Mundofonías, teniendo en cuanta solo la calidad e interés de los álbumes. Los discos valorados para elaborar esta lista son los trabajos completos y originales recibidos durante el año (o finales del año anterior), sin importar dónde ni por quién hayan sido editados o la distribución comercial que tengan.

This list shows the selection of 2021 Mundofonías’ favorite albums, appearing in a random order. Our list is a non-hierarchical, nor numbered one, and includes those recordings that have been more interesting for us and have given us more pleasure during this year. It’s a completely independent, non-commercial list, not subject to any other consideration that the own criteria of the hosts of Mundofonías, just considering the quality and interest of the albums. The records evaluated to prepare this list are the original ones that we have received in its complete version during this year (or at the end of the last year), regardless of where or by whom they have been published or which kind of commercial distribution they have.

December favorites + From Lima to the Alhambra

Abrimos con los tres discos favoritos del mes de diciembre en Mundofonías, con los sones auténticos  de las recopilaciones «La caña de millo», desde Colombia y «Zār: Music for the spirits». desde Egipto, así como con la música griega Xanthoula Dakovanou. Continuamos con otras novedades musicales que nos llevan desde sones tropicales hechos en Lima a aires flamencos «made in France», pasando por Castilla, Estambul, Siria y varias Al Hamras o Alhambras.

We open with the three favorite albums of December in Mundofonías, with the authentic sounds of the compilations «La Caña de Millo»¨, from Colombia and «Zār: Music for the Spirits», from Egypt, as well as with the Greek musician Xanthoula Dakovanou. We continue with other new albums that take us from tropical sounds made in Lima to flamenco airs made in France, passing through Castile, Istanbul, Syria and several Al Hamras or Alhambras.

Transglobal World Music Chart

Repaso libre a la Transglobal World Music Chart del mes, confeccionada a través de la votación de un panel de divulgadores de las músicas del mundo de todos los continentes, del que los hacedores de Mundofonías somos cocreadores y coimpulsores. Este mes de diciembre del 2021, viajamos por los Balcanes, el corazón de África, Escandinavia, Brasil y China, para acabar con el número uno, que es para la alianza cubano-senegalesa de Omar Sosa & Seckou Keita.

A loose review of the Transglobal World Music Chart for this month, determined by a panel of world music specialists from all the continents, of which the Mundofonías‘ presenters are co-creators and co-promoters. This December 2021, we travel through the Balkans, the heart of Africa, Scandinavia, Brazil and China, to finish with the number one, which is for the Cuban-Senegalese alliance of Omar Sosa & Seckou Keita.

Transglobal World Music Hall of Fame

Celebramos la primera convocatoria del Transglobal World Music Hall of Fame, una iniciativa de la Transglobal World Music Chart (impulsada, a su vez, por Mundofonías y World Music Central) para reconocer y premiar la excelencia, el talento y las mayores aportaciones a las músicas de raíz popular, en tres categorías: Artista, In Memoriam y Excelencia en la Industria y los Medios. Mencionamos, festejamos y escuchamos a los galardonados en un programa repleto de joyas musicales.

We welcome the first edition of the Transglobal World Music Hall of Fame, an initiative of the Transglobal World Music Chart (itself promoted by Mundofonías and World Music Central) to honor and reward excellence, talent and the greatest contributions to popular roots music, in three categories: Artist, In Memoriam and Industry and Media Excellence. We mention, celebrate and listen to the inductees in a program full of musical gems.
