Indias around the world
Una diáspora no muy conocida en lo musical es la proveniente del subcontinente indio. Sin embargo, poblaciones de ese origen que se han asentado en lugares muy distantes han generado expresiones musicales singulares, como las que apreciamos con ejemplos musicales llegados desde Surinam, la isla caribeña de Trinidad o la africana de Mauricio. Completamos con más grabaciones de raíz india, tanto históricas como bien recientes, registradas en Pakistán y Gran Bretaña.
One not very well-known musical diaspora is that originating from the Indian subcontinent. However, populations of that origin that have settled in very distant places have generated distinctive musical expressions, such as those we hear in musical examples from Suriname, the Caribbean island of Trinidad or the African island of Mauritius. We round off with more recordings of Indian roots, both historical and very recent, recorded in Pakistan and Great Britain.
