African nights in Montreal

Después de un comienzo flamenco, anunciando la reaparición escénica de Rafael Amargo, dedicamos el resto del programa al festival Nuits d’Afrique, que hace pocos días celebraba su 40.ª edición en la cosmopolita ciudad de Montreal, Quebec, Canadá. En él estuvo presente el mundófono Juan Antonio Vázquez, de donde se trajo músicas, voces, conversaciones e impresiones y hasta una fabulosa grabación inédita del concierto que allí dieron Les Frères Sissokho. Hablamos con ellos, con el artista haitiano Wesli, con el burkinés Kanazoé y demás miembros de su Orkestra, y con la mexicana Berenice Castro, la responsable de los voluntarios, quien nos da la visión desde dentro de este festival que hemos podido disfrutar en el corazón de la ciudad de Montreal.

After a flamenco opening, announcing the stage reappearance of Rafael Amargo, we devote the rest of the programme to the Nuits d’Afrique festival, which a few days ago celebrated its 40th edition in the cosmopolitan city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Present there was Mundofonías’ Juan Antonio Vázquez, who brought back music, voices, conversations and impressions, and even a fabulous unreleased recording of the concert given there by Les Frères Sissokho. We talk with them, with the Haitian artist Wesli, with the Burkinabè Kanazoé and other members of his Orkestra, and with the Mexican Berenice Castro, the festival’s volunteer coordinator, who gives us an inside view of this festival that we were able to enjoy in the heart of the city of Montreal.
