Exploramos los sonidos de la hipnótica tradición musical y ritual del zar de Egipto, a través de las asombrosas y auténticas grabaciones recogidas en el álbum «Zār: Songs for the spirits». Continuamos evocando espíritus; en este caso, los de artistas que nos han dejado recientemente, como el maliense Mama Sissoko, el nigeriano Victor Uwaifo y el italiano Maurizio Martinotti.

We explore the sounds of the hypnotic musical and ritual tradition of the zār of Egypt, through the amazing and authentic recordings collected in the album «Zār: Songs for the spirits». We continue evoking spirits; in this case, those of artists who have recently passed away, such as the Malian Mama Sissoko, the Nigerian Victor Uwaifo and the Italian Maurizio Martinotti.

Comenzamos con los discos favoritos de Mundofonías de enero del 2022, que vienen firmados por los suecos Hoven Droven, así como por los proyectos pergeñados en Francia de los griegos Asafir y el kurdo Ruşan Filiztek. Continuamos presentando más músicas que nos acercan al corazón de Anatolia, Tuvá, Bretaña, Castilla y los Andes.

We start with Mundofonías’ favorite albums for January 2022, which are signed by the Swedish Hoven Droven, as well as by the France-based projects of the Greeks Asafir and the Kurdish Ruşan Filiztek. Supernovas, utopias and laments

Supernovas, utopías y lamentos. Eso y más cosas nos evocan las músicas que nos llevan desde Brasil y Portugal a los Balcanes, con ecos de Serbia y de diversos rincones de Grecia, para aterrizar en Gotemburgo, en Suecia, donde nos aguardan sones gitanos de Rusia y el este de Europa, y célticos, mirando también hacia el oeste. Repasamos, entretanto, la Balkan World Music Chart del último trimestre del 2021, de cuyo panel los hacedores de Mundofonías formamos parte.

Supernovas, utopias and laments. All this and more is evoked by the music that takes us from Brazil and Portugal to the Balkans, with echoes of Serbia and various corners of Greece, to then land in Gothenburg, Sweden, where Gypsy sounds from Russia and Eastern Europe await us, and also Celtic sounds, looking westwards. In the meantime, we review the Balkan World Music Chart for the last quarter of 2021, of which the Mundofonías creators are part of the panel.

Repaso libre a la Transglobal World Music Chart del mes, confeccionada a través de la votación de un panel de divulgadores de las músicas del mundo de todos los continentes, del que los hacedores de Mundofonías somos cocreadores y coimpulsores. Este mes de enero del 2022, viajamos por Portugal, Chequia, Anatolia, Eslovaquia, Mali, Brasil, Italia y Polonia, con evocaciones también jazzísticas y centroasiáticas, para acabar con el número uno, que es para los tuvanos Khöömei Beat. ¡Feliz año nuevo!

A loose review of the Transglobal World Music Chart for this month, determined by a panel of world music specialists from all the continents, of which the Mundofonías‘ presenters are co-creators and co-promoters.
