Nos dejamos sorprender por las inusuales maravillas, recién confeccionadas, que encontramos viajando por la India, Indonesia e Indochina, así como con los trabajos de artistas de otros lugares del planeta que encuentran allí su inspiración. Hacemos escala en la India, Bali y Camboya, en un vuelo musical con tripulación también belgo-italiana y franco-siria.

We set out in search of music in the far reaches of southern and Southeast Asia. We let ourselves be surprised by the unusual, freshly crafted wonders we encounter while traveling through India, Indonesia, and Indochina, as well as by the work of artists from other parts of the world who find their inspiration there. We make stops in India, Bali, and Cambodia, on a musical journey with a crew that is also Belgian-Italian and Franco-Syrian.

Disfrutamos de discos recién publicados o que lo harán próximamente, que nos traen raíces africanas con sabores del Congo, Benín, Madagascar, Mali y Senegal, así como conexiones también francesas, noruegas, japonesas, norteamericanas y británicas. Escucharemos nuevas grabaciones; la reedición de joyas del pasado, hasta ahora inencontrables, así como recitales inéditos de admirados artistas que ya nos han dejado.

We enjoy albums recently released or soon to be released that bring us African roots with flavours from Congo, Benin, Madagascar, Mali and Senegal, with French, Norwegian, Japanese, North American and British connections. We’ll listen to new recordings, the reissue of previously impossible-to-find gems from the past, as well as previously unheard live recitals by admired artists who are no longer with us.

Después de su anterior disco, “Fihisa”, del que hablábamos por aquí hace justo un año, el guitarrista malgache Damily vuelve en un tono muy diferente: de la exaltación festiva de entonces al intimismo evocador de “Fanjiry”. Aquí se nos muestra a solas con su guitarra y lanzándose, por primera vez, a cantar sus composiciones.

After his previous album, “Fihisa”, which we talked about here exactly a year ago, the Malagasy guitarist Damily returns in a very different tone: from the festive exhilaration of that time to the evocative intimacy of “Fanjiry”. Here he appears alone with his guitar, and for the first time, he ventures into singing his own compositions.

African journeys with a Japanese finale

Viajamos por sonoridades africanas de muy diversos lugares e incluso épocas: Madagascar, Tanzania, Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso (con conexión italiana), Gambia, Senegal… Finalmente, un flautista francés consigue reunir suficiente magia en sus soplos para trasladarnos desde el África occidental a Japón, con escala en la India.

We travel through African soundscapes from many different places and even periods: Madagascar, Tanzania, Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso (with an Italian connection), Gambia, Senegal… Finally, a French flautist gathers enough magic in his breath to transport us from West Africa to Japan, with a stopover in India.

We begin with our three favorite albums of March 2026, coming to us from Scotland with the Firelight Trio; Hungary with ViGaD; and France with Les Fils Canouche. Con motivo del centenario de su nacimiento, se acaba de publicar una amplia recopilación que recoge el legado de este pionero del zydeco, música nacida entre la comunidad afroamericana de lengua francesa criolla de Luisiana. Se trata de Clifton Chenier, con cuyo acordeón vibramos una vez más entre los surcos de esta antología: “King of Louisiana blues and zydeco”.

On the occasion of the centenary of his birth, a wide-ranging compilation has just been released bringing together the legacy of this pioneer of zydeco, the music that emerged among the French Creole-speaking African American community of Louisiana. It features Clifton Chenier, whose accordion once again makes us vibrate through the grooves of this anthology: “King of Louisiana Blues and Zydeco.”

We bring the breath of flutes and the bellows of accordions, among a thousand other musics, to travel between Persia, Albania, Lebanon, Catalonia, Portugal, Louisiana, Madagascar, Mesopotamia and many Frances, in a programme in which we welcome Olivier Rey, director of Babel Music XP in Marseille, as a guest to share with us the main keys to the upcoming edition of this essential event.

La música modal caracteriza muchas de las tradiciones orientales: la árabe, la persa, la turca, la india… También impregna músicas populares de diferentes lugares de Europa, desde los Balcanes a tierras más occidentales. Exploramos músicas de reciente factura y, en muchos casos, de reciente composición que nos llevan por estos caminos sonoros, a través de distintos tratamientos y en diferentes combinaciones, con especial incidencia en las músicas griegas, pero también en las sirias y de otras raíces.

Modal music characterizes many Eastern traditions: Arab, Persian, Turkish, Indian… It also permeates popular music from different parts of Europe, from the Balkans to more Western lands. We explore recently created music and, in many cases, recently composed pieces that take us along these sound paths through different treatments and in various combinations, with particular emphasis on Greek music, but also on Syrian music and others with different roots.
