Repasamos la LIMúR, Lista Ibérica de Músicas de Raíz del segundo trimestre del 2025, una iniciativa que lanzamos desde Mundofonías y en la que participan especialistas y divulgadores de diversos países. Suenen músicas que conectan Portugal, el País Vasco, Cataluña o el País Valenciano con Siria, Irlanda, Italia, Francia y otros parajes orientales. Escuchamos más novedades ibéricas desde Asturias y Portugal, para terminar con influencias balcánicas desde Francia e inspiraciones bluegrass desde Alemania.

We review the LIMúR, the Iberian Roots Music Chart for the second quarter of 2025, an initiative launched by Mundofonías with the participation of specialists and music disseminators from various countries. We listen to music that connects Portugal, the Basque Country, Catalonia and the Valencian Country with Syria, Ireland, Italy, France and other eastern landscapes. We hear more Iberian new releases from Asturias and Portugal, finishing with Balkan influences from France and bluegrass inspirations from Germany.

L’Attirail

La inclasificable banda francesa L’Attirail nos ofrece un nuevo trabajo en el que recorre su inabarcable catálogo de sonoridades exóticas y evocadoras: “Cher revenants”, algo así como ‘queridos aparecidos o resucitados’. Aquí reúnen piezas descartadas en anteriores trabajos, circunstancia “inexplicable” sobre la que, afirman, hay una investigación en curso.

The unclassifiable French band L’Attirail presents us with a new work in which they revisit their vast catalogue of exotic and evocative sounds: “Cher revenants”, something like ‘dear ghosts or resurrected ones’. Here they gather tracks previously discarded from earlier works, a circumstance they describe as “inexplicable” and about which, they claim, an investigation is currently underway.

Aprovechando su paso por España, charlamos con el músico argentino Chango Spasiuk sobre el proyecto «Taco y suela» que ha venido a presentar por tierras europeas y muchas más reflexiones sobre la música, el chamamé y la vida. El programa se completa con otras novedades de aires tropicales con conexiones japonesas, franco-catalanas y norteamericanas.

While in Spain, we talked with the Argentine musician Chango Spasiuk about the project “Taco y suela”, which he came to present across Europe, and many more reflections on music, chamamé and life. The show is completed with other new releases with tropical vibes and Japanese, French-Catalan and North American connections.

Aprovechando su reciente visita por España, abrimos micro al acordeonista argentino Chango Spasiuk, reconocida figura del chamamé, quien nos cuenta interesantes historias y reflexiones sobre su música. Escuchamos una muestra de su proyecto en trío “Taco y suela”, todavía inédito discográficamente.

Taking advantage of his recent visit to Spain, we opened the mic to the Argentinian accordionist Chango Spasiuk, a renowned figure of chamamé, who shares interesting stories and reflections about his music. We listen to a sample of his trio project “Taco y suela”, still unreleased on record.

Repaso libre a la Transglobal World Music Chart de este mes, confeccionada a través de la votación de un panel de divulgadores de las músicas del mundo de todos los continentes, del que los hacedores de Mundofonías somos cocreadores y coimpulsores. La música nos lleva por Italia; el Índico africano, visitando Mayotte y La Reunión; África Occidental, con parada en Guinea y en Mali; Egipto, Países Bajos y Anatolia. Terminamos en Finlandia, con el nuevo disco de Värttinä, que se sitúa en el número 1 de este mes.

Free overview of this month’s Transglobal World Music Chart, created through the voting of a panel of world music disseminators from all continents, of which the makers of Mundofonías are co-creators and co-promoters. Music takes us through Italy, the African Indian Ocean, visiting Mayotte and Réunion, West Africa, with a stop in Guinea and Mali, Egypt, the Netherlands, and Anatolia. We end up in Finland, with the new album by Värttinä, which ranks number 1 this month.

Hawa & Kassé Mady Diabaté

Kassé Mady Diabaté fue una figura clave en la música maliense. Este griot, conocido como “la voz de oro de Mali”, nos dejó en el 2018 con un disco a medio elaborar. Su hija, Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté, ha rematado este emocionante trabajo, que, con el título de “Toumaro”, ‘Hasta pronto’, edita ahora el sello One World Records.

Kassé Mady Diabaté was a key figure in Malian music. This griot, known as “the golden voice of Mali”, passed away in 2018 with an unfinished album. His daughter, Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté, has completed this moving work, which, under the title “Toumaro” (‘See you soon’), is now released by the label One World Records.

We bring the report from the Ethno Port festival, held in Poznań, Poland, featuring some of the artists who captivated us, including the musical greeting sent from there by Almir Mešković and Daniel Lazar. The Ragu Dixit Project

Como un vendaval de ganas de vivir se le apareció al músico indio Ragu Dixit la inspiración para estas canciones, después de un periodo de profunda depresión y desmotivación. El título, “Shakkar” (‘azúcar’, en hindi) es una metáfora de la felicidad en su estado más simple y puro, como el recuerdo de saborear un dulce en la niñez. El disco cuenta con destacadas colaboraciones, como, entre otras, las de Béla Fleck y Michael League, en las canciones que escuchamos.

Like a gust of life-affirming energy, inspiration came to the Indian musician Ragu Dixit for these songs, after a period of deep depression and lack of motivation. The title, “Shakkar” (‘sugar’, in Hindi) is a metaphor for happiness in its simplest and purest form, like the memory of tasting a sweet in childhood. The album features notable collaborations, including, among others, Béla Fleck and Michael League, on the songs we hear.

Kraffft

Desde Francia, concretamente desde Bretaña, nos llega la intrigante música de este quinteto de artistas procedentes del rock y del folk: Kraffft. A través del no menos inquieto sello Vlad Records nos ofrecen un primer disco de larga duración, homónimo, con sorprendentes músicas de ingredientes balcánicos, etiópicos, orientales, psicodélicos y electrizantes.

From France, specifically from Brittany, comes the intriguing music of this quintet of artists with backgrounds in rock and folk: Kraffft. Through the equally restless label Vlad Records, they offer a first full-length album, self-titled, with surprising music featuring Balkan, Ethiopian, Eastern, psychedelic and electrifying ingredients.
