Comenzamos celebrando la designación de Praia, capital de Cabo Verde, como Capital Africana de la Cultura para el 2028 recordando a la gran Cesaria Evora y con música también de la diáspora caboverdiana en Galicia. Más sones de África nos llegan de Ghana y Tanzania, para terminar con buen flamenco en encuentros jazzísticos y también en estado puro. En nuestras #Mundofonews hablamos del festival Etnosur, desde tierras andaluzas, con la voz invitada de uno de sus directores, Rafa López.

We begin by celebrating the designation of Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, as African Capital of Culture for 2028, remembering the great Cesária Évora and also enjoying music from the Cape Verdean diaspora in Galicia. More sounds from Africa reach us from Ghana and Tanzania, before we conclude with fine flamenco, both in jazz encounters and in its purest form. In our #Mundofonews, we talk about the Etnosur festival, from Andalusian lands, with the guest voice of one of its directors, Rafa López.

Once again, we set out towards the East to discover new sonic wonders found in recent album releases. We begin in the Caucasus, in Georgia, with a Belgian connection, before continuing with Persian songs, new reinterpretations of Bali‘s gamelan, surprising music from the peoples of Guizhou in China, and finally an enchanting reimagining of Japanese minyo songs.

Siempre es un placer disfrutar con joyas musicales del pasado y celebrar que hayan llegado a nuestros días y a nuestros oídos. En esta ocasión, se trata de maravillas del histórico sello norteamericano Folkways: una recopilación de 26 piezas del blues más clásico y auténtico, que ahora se reeditan bajo el título de “Classic blues from Smithsonian Folkways Recordings”.

It is always a pleasure to enjoy musical gems from the past and celebrate the fact that they have reached our days and our ears. On this occasion, they are wonders from the historic North American label Folkways: a compilation of 26 pieces of the most classic and authentic blues, now reissued under the title “Classic Blues from Smithsonian Folkways Recordings”.
