Escuchamos las colaboraciones del músico finés con estos dos últimos.

The veteran Finnish diatonic accordionist Markku Lepistö presents a duet album featuring collaborations with four other celebrated European masters of the bellows: Italian Riccardo Tesi, Portuguese Eva Parmenter, his fellow Finn Leija Lautamaja, and the our trikitilari Xabi Aburruzaga. We listen to the Finnish musician’s collaborations with the latter two.

Repaso libre a la Transglobal World Music Chart de este mes, confeccionada a través de la votación de un panel de divulgadores de las músicas del mundo de todos los continentes, del que los hacedores de Mundofonías somos cocreadores y coimpulsores. A loose review of this month’s Transglobal World Music Chart, determined by a panel of world music specialists from all the continents, of which the Mundofonías‘ presenters are co-creators and co-promoters. Desde El Carpio de Tajo, Toledo, Vigüela llevan décadas explorando el legado tradicional de su tierra y más allá. En los últimos años han emprendido una concienzuda labor de profundización en sus códigos más auténticos, lo que les ha valido numerosos reconocimientos internacionales. Su nuevo disco “We”, publicado por Mapamundi Música, es el último fruto de esa labor.

From El Carpio de Tajo, Toledo, Vigüela has spent decades exploring the traditional legacy of their homeland and beyond. In recent years, they have undertaken a meticulous effort to delve into the most authentic codes of this heritage, earning them numerous international accolades. Their new album, «We», released by Mapamundi Música, is the latest result of that work.

La violinista neoyorquina Alicia Svigals es uno de los mayores exponentes del violín klezmer, la música originada en las comunidades judías de Europa central y oriental que los emigrantes llevaron al otro lado del charco. Su nuevo disco “Fidl afire” nos muestra su violín “en llamas”, recreando intensas y cautivadoras piezas de esta tradición.

New Yorker violinist Alicia Svigals is one of the leading exponents of klezmer violin, a music tradition originating from the Jewish communities of Central and Eastern Europe, brought across the Atlantic by emigrants. Her new album, “Fidl Afire”, showcases her violin «on fire,» delivering intense and captivating pieces from this tradition.

Viajamos con músicas balcánicas o de inspiración balcánica de diversos géneros, procedencias y tratamientos, incluyendo una breve digresión por algunas joyas recientes del klezmer norteamericano. We embark on a journey through Balkan music or Balkan-inspired sounds across various genres, origins, and interpretations, including a brief digression into some recent gems of North American klezmer. Su pasión está en los cantos polifónicos “a capella” del este de Europa, pero ellas vienen desde Nueva Orleans. Su segundo disco autoproducido, “For the olives”, que se publica exactamente en el día de emisión de este programa, es una auténtica delicia. De él extraemos dos piezas que nos hacen viajar desde Bulgaria a Lituania.

Their passion lies in polyphonic a cappella singing from Eastern Europe, but they hail from New Orleans. Their second self-produced album, «For the Olives», which is being released on the exact day of this program’s broadcast, is an absolute delight. From it, we bring you two pieces that take us on a journey from Bulgaria to Lithuania.

Traemos músicas grabadas durante la celebración del WOMEX 2024, que ha tenido lugar a finales del pasado mes de octubre en la ciudad inglesa de Mánchester. Grabaciones totalmente inéditas con las músicas que allí nos hicieron disfrutar y que nos harán viajar de nuevo por Puerto Rico, Brasil, Francia, Oriente Próximo, África Occidental, Portugal, Japón, Escocia y Canadá. Mundofonías es un medio colaborador de WOMEX de largo recorrido. Habrá una segunda parte.

We bring you music recorded during the celebration of WOMEX 2024, held at the end of last October in the English city of Manchester. Completely unreleased recordings of the music that delighted us there and will take us on a journey once again through Puerto Rico, Brazil, France, the Middle East, West Africa, Portugal, Japan, Scotland and Canada. Mundofonías has been a long-term media partner of WOMEX. There will be a second part.
