Los Pirañas

Desde el hervidero musical de Bogotá, la capital colombiana, nos llega el nuevo trabajo de Los Pirañas, aunando psicodelia y tropicalidad, con una buena dosis de improvisación. Lleva por título “Una oportunidad más de triunfar en la vida” y lo publica Glitterbeat Records.

From the musical cauldron of Bogotá, the Colombian capital, comes the new album by Los Pirañas, combining psychedelia and tropicality, with a good dose of improvisation. It is entitled ‘Una oportunidad más de triunfar en la vida’ (One more chance to succeed in life) and is released by Glitterbeat Records.

Lanzamos a voleo músicas de mil lugares, esperando que sean semillas de esperanza en este mundo convulso. Los nuevos sones que hoy presentamos nos llevan desde Bélgica a Colombia, desde Mali a la Macaronesia y de tierras ibérica a italianas, surcando el Mediterráneo.

We cast music from a thousand places into the air, hoping they become seeds of hope in this troubled world. The new sounds we present today take us from Belgium to Colombia, from Mali to Macaronesia, and from Iberian to Italian lands, sailing across the Mediterranean.

Viajamos entre Asia Menor, Grecia y el resto de los Balcanes, presentando nuevos discos que nos traen también ecos gitanos, sefardíes y klezmer, con conexiones que llegan hasta España, Francia, Suiza, Ucrania y el norte de África.

We travel between Asia Minor, Greece and the rest of the Balkans, presenting new albums that also bring us Romani, Sephardic and klezmer echoes, with connections that extend to Spain, France, Switzerland, Ukraine and North Africa.

Assafir

Artistas de diversas raíces, principalmente mediterráneas (griegas, árabes, italianas, francesas…), se confabulan en este grupo con sede en París: Assafir. Sus inspiraciones nos llevan hacia el Mediterráneo oriental, explorando la riqueza y la diversidad musical de los pueblos de Grecia y Asia Menor en su segundo disco, “Traversées” (‘Travesías’), recién publicado y autoproducido.

Artists of diverse roots, mainly Mediterranean (Greek, Arab, Italian, French…), come together in this group based in Paris: Assafir. Their inspirations lead us toward the eastern Mediterranean, exploring the richness and musical diversity of the peoples of Greece and Asia Minor in their second album, “Traversées” (‘Crossings’), recently released and self-produced.

Arab, Nordic and Latin American delights

Disfrutamos con nuevas músicas recién publicadas o a punto de hacerlo, que nos traen sonoridades arábigas con diferentes combinaciones, con conexiones españolas y canadienses, o bien, en estado puro, con ecos de Irak, Túnez o Egipto. Continuamos por el norte de Europa, saltando entre Escocia, Suecia, Polonia y Finlandia, para rematar en América Latina, con paradas en el Río de la Plata, vertiente uruguaya; en Brasil, con conexión francesa, y en Haití, enlazando con Bélgica.

We enjoy new music recently released or about to be, bringing us Arab sounds in different combinations, with Spanish and Canadian connections, or in pure form, echoing Iraq, Tunisia or Egypt. We continue through the north of Europe, jumping between Scotland, Sweden, Poland and Finland, to finish in Latin America, with stops along the Río de la Plata, on the Uruguayan side, in Brazil, with a French connection, and in Haiti, linking with Belgium.

Abrimos con los tres discos favoritos de Mundofonías de junio del 2025, que firman los proyectos internacionales Marc Crofts Klezmer Ensemble y Assafir, que nos traen aires klezmer y del Mediterráneo oriental, así como el nuevo trabajo del artista de raíces mandingas Kaabi Kouyaté. Continuamos con sorprendentes músicas de Bretaña y otras tierras francesas aledañas, con referencias que llegan también a Cuba, Europa oriental y, de nuevo, el África occidental. Por allí recalamos, en Nigeria, para acabar en el Pacífico colombiano.

We begin with the three Mundofonías favorite albums of June 2025, presented by the international projects Marc Crofts Klezmer Ensemble and Assafir, bringing us klezmer airs and sounds from the Eastern Mediterranean, along with the new album of Mandingo-rooted artist Kaabi Kouyaté. We continue with stunning music from Brittany and other nearby French territories, with references also reaching Cuba, Eastern Europe, and once again West Africa. From there, we stop by Nigeria before ending up on Colombia’s Pacific coast.

We let ourselves be captivated by the magic of Aly Keïta’s balafon, Habib Koité’s guitar and voice, Lamine Cissokho’s kora, and Mama Koné’s percussion.

Atravesamos el continente africano de confín a confín, con músicas de sus cuatro puntos cardinales, descubriendo nuevas producciones musicales en un viaje que nos lleva desde Mali, Senegal y Costa de Marfil a Etiopía o Sudán, y desde Marruecos a La Reunión, con conexiones europeas y americanas.

We cross the African continent from end to end, with music from its four cardinal points, discovering new musical productions in a journey that takes us from Mali, Senegal, and Ivory Coast to Ethiopia or Sudan, and from Morocco to La Réunion, with European and American connections.

Marc Crofts Klezmer Ensemble

El violinista suizo Marc Crofts, al frente de un competente combo internacional, evoca las raíces del klezmer, recuperando conexiones con las músicas de los gitanos de los Balcanes, entre otras. Su disco “Urban myths” se edita a través del sello Frémeaux et Associés.

Swiss violinist Marc Crofts, leading a skilled international combo, evokes the roots of klezmer, reviving connections with the music of Gypsies from the Balkans, among others. His album “Urban myths” is released by the label Frémeaux et Associés.
