We discover rooted music that, from Serbia, offers us very diverse facets and approaches, ranging from the most traditional sound to the most uninhibited experimentation. We also explore and travel through other European musical territories that are more or less close, such as Croatia, Hungary and Russia, delving into recent and compelling recordings.

Escuchamos algunos de los discos seleccionados entre los mejores del año en la LIMúR, la Lista Ibérica de Músicas de Raíz, por su panel internacional de especialistas, dándole la enhorabuena a Radio Tarifa por situarse en el puesto número uno. Completamos el programa con más novedades ibéricas, viajando por el País Vasco, Cataluña, Portugal, el País Valenciano, Madrid, Murcia y las Baleares, con alguna que otra conexión itálica.

We listen to some of the albums selected among the best of the year in LIMúR, the Iberian Roots Music Chart, as chosen by its international panel of specialists, and we congratulate Radio Tarifa for reaching the number one position. Su nuevo trabajo, “Il mito”, es ya el número veintiuno y celebra medio siglo consagrado a unas músicas que han paseado por todo el mundo: las de sus tierras sureñas, las de Apulia, y de su región, Salento.

We celebrate the golden anniversary of this pioneering Italian group that is still fully active: Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino. Their new release, “Il mito” is already their twenty-first album and marks half a century devoted to music they have carried around the world: the music of their southern lands, Apulia, and of their home region, Salento.

Viajamos hasta Bali para sumergirnos en una de las músicas más fascinantes del planeta: el gamelán. El tenaz y encomiable sello local Insitu Recordings nos muestra en sus grabaciones este arte brillando, como los instrumentos de metal empleados, en todo su esplendor. Se trata, en este caso, del último trabajo del Gamelan Pesel: “Pesta nada” (‘Fiesta de notas’).

We travel to Bali to immerse ourselves in one of the most fascinating musical traditions on the planet: gamelan. The tenacious and commendable local label Insitu Recordings showcases this art in its recordings, shining in all its splendour, like the metal instruments employed. In this case, it is the latest work by Gamelan Pesel, titled “Pesta nada” (‘Feast of notes’).

We explore some of the latest recordings released by the Balinese label Insitu Recordings, which show us the great vitality of one of the most fascinating musical expressions on the planet: gamelan. Local and international artists and composers reveal a creative landscape that is deeply rooted while at the same time highly inventive.

We attended the Afro-Scandinavian encounter led by the Senegalese-rooted musician Ibou Cissokho, a kora player, and the Norwegian Ole André Farstad, a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. Together they present the music from their self-produced album, “Woo la ba.”

Desde Lille, en el norte de Francia, nos llega la música de La Cuivraille, bien arropada en su sección de metales, como su nombre sugiere, si bien es un proyecto impulsado por un curtido y avezado violinista: Gabriel Lenoir. Ellos nos presentan su muy danzable y disfrutable disco “Tournivelle”.

From Lille, in the north of France, comes the music of La Cuivraille, well supported by its brass section, as its name suggests, although it is a project driven by a seasoned and highly skilled violinist, Gabriel Lenoir. They present to us their highly danceable and enjoyable album “Tournivelle”.
