Kaabi Kouyaté

Kaabi Kouyaté rinde en este “Tribute to Kandia”, editado por Buda Musique, un sentido homenaje a su padre, Kandia Kouyaté, reputado griot (juglar) en los años de la recién lograda independencia de Guinea, hasta su fallecimiento en 1977. Su linaje artístico y, por tanto, el de su hijo Kaabi, se remonta hasta la fundación del imperio mandinga, allá por el siglo XIII.

Kaabi Kouyaté pays a heartfelt tribute to his father, Kandia Kouyaté, a renowned griot (bard) during the years following the newly achieved independence of Guinea, in this “Tribute to Kandia”, released by Buda Musique, until his passing in 1977. His artistic lineage, and therefore that of his son Kaabi, traces back to the founding of the Mandinka empire in the 13th century.

Haris Pilton & Balkan Voodoo Orchestra

Congregando a artistas desde la India a París, pasando por los Balcanes, y desde Egipto a Oriente Próximo, el artista esloveno Haris Pilton, junto con la Balkan Voodoo Orchestra, nos invita al baile y al divertimiento balcanizante con este disco, “Soon in your village” (‘Pronto en tu pueblo’), que edita el sello Asphalt Tango Records.

Gathering artists from India to Paris, through the Balkans, and from Egypt to the Middle East, the Slovenian artist Haris Pilton, together with the Balkan Voodoo Orchestra, invites us to dance and have fun with a Balkan twist with this album, “Soon in your village”, released by the label Asphalt Tango Records.

We open with the three favorite albums of the month, signed by the tropicalizing Japanese Minyo Crusaders, the flamenco-inspired Moroccan Alaa Zouiten and, from Tuva, the historical recordings of Gennadi Tumat’s Ay Kherel. We then continue unveiling the secrets of the East, with music inspired in Central Asia, Anatolia, North Africa and India.

Comenzamos en Alemania con evocaciones punyabíes y de antiguas series televisivas. Seguimos con más novedades y adelantos discográficos, conectando Francia con más sonidos orientalizantes, para viajar luego a los Balcanes, con sones más de la tierra y otros muy inclasificables. Celebramos el regreso de Radio Tarifa y viajamos atrás en el tiempo desde El Cairo. Terminamos volando de Armenia a Brasil, de Ereván a São Paulo, anunciando y escuchando músicas de dos eventos imprescindibles: Yerevan Music Week y Brasil Music Summit.

We begin in Germany with Punjabi evocations and from old television series. We continue with more new releases and album previews, connecting France with more orientalizing sounds, to then travel to the Balkans, with tunes more from the land and others quite unclassifiable. We celebrate the return of Radio Tarifa, and travel back in time from Cairo. We finish flying from Armenia to Brazil, from Yerevan to São Paulo, announcing and listening to music from two essential events: Yerevan Music Week and Brasil Music Summit.

Lindal quiere decir ‘el umbral, el inicio de algo’ en occitano. Y esperamos que este disco, “Gris cenre” (‘Gris ceniza’), suponga el despegue de una importante carrera para este original dúo italo-occitano, pertrechado de violines, acordeones y electrónica.

Lindal means ‘the threshold, the beginning of something’ in Occitan. And we hope that this album, “Gris cenre” (‘Gray ash’), marks the takeoff of an important career for this original Italo-Occitan duo, equipped with violins, accordions and electronics.

Recorremos después Europa, viajando por Bulgaria, Galicia y Francia, para terminar enlazando África Occidental con Escandinavia y Norteamérica.

We begin in Brazil, with music from the roots that brings us diverse connections, such as India. We continue with intertwinings between flamenco, North Africa, the Middle East and jazz. We then travel across Europe, journeying through Bulgaria, Galicia and France, to end by linking West Africa with Scandinavia and North America.
