This list shows the selection of Mundofonías’ favourite records of 2015, appearing in a random order. Our list is a non-hierarchical, nor numbered one, and includes those recordings that have been more interesting for us and have given us more pleasure during this year. It’s a completely independent, non-commercial list, not subject to any other consideration that the own criteria of the hosts of Mundofonías, just considering the quality and interest of the albums. The records evaluated to prepare this list are the original ones that we have received in its complete version during this year (or at the end of the last year), regardless of where or by whom they have been published or which kind of commercial distribution they have.

Abrimos con el nuevo disco de la chilena Pascuala Ilabaca y continuamos con diversos artistas presentes en el encuentro Mundial Montréal. Llegan los sones de las guitarras acústicas, con el disco póstumo de John Renbourn y producciones del sello alemán Acoustic Music Records, para continuar con aires orientales y klezmer.

Empezamos con música colombiana y la alianza indobretona de los flautistas Jean-Luc Thomas y Ravichandra Kulur en un disco que saldrá el año que viene. Continuamos con los occitanos La Talvera, comentando la edición que han impulsado del cancionero Se canta que cante. Seguimos con conexión occitana-oriental con Forabandit, evocando su actuación en el WOMEX, para continuar por el Mediterráneo oriental, escapada a Nueva Zelanda y final africano con el regreso de Kandia Kouyaté.

We start with Colombian music, and the Indian-Breton alliance of flutists Jean-Luc Thomas and Ravichandra Kulur in an album to be released next year. We continue with Occitans La Talvera, talking also about their issue of the songbook Se canta que cante. More Occitan-Oriental connection with Forabandit, evoking their perfomance at WOMEX, to continue in the Eastern Mediterranean, a lightning trip to New Zealand and an African end with Kandia Kouyaté‘s return.

We talk about WOMEX, the world music fair that this year has been held in Budapest, Hungary, of which Mundofonías is media partner. We play the music of some of the artists that gave us some of the best moments, including interviews with Rancho Aparte (Colombia), Javier Paxariño (Spain) and Iberi (Georgia), who perform for us a very nice live song.

Muchas músicas de Polonia: novedades y avances, como un tema inédito de la Janusz Prusinovski Kompania y el adelanto del nuevo disco que saldrá en el 2016 de la Kapela ze wsi Warsawa (Warsaw Village Band), con colaboraciones destacadas como la de la gallega Mercedes Peón. También músicas del recopilatorio que acompaña a la última edición de la revista fRoots y remate con Omar Souleyman.

A lot of music from Poland: new releases and also advances like a not released track by Janusz Prusinovski Kompania y the preview of the next album to be released in 2016 of Kapela ze wsi Warsawa (Warsaw Village Band), featuring the Galician artist Mercedes Peón, among others. We also pay attention to the fine music included in the compilation that goes with the last fRoots magazine’s issue and we finish with Omar Souleyman.
